MALE BONDING
Made up of Robin Christian Silas (drums), John Arthur Webb (guitar & vocals) and Kevin Hendrick (bass & vocals), and rising from a flourishing DIY scene in their adopted hometown of Dalston, London, Male Bonding became a very real thing in May, 2008, with their first show, at “RAGE!”. That party evolved in to a split 7” release with PENS on the band’s own label Paradise Vendors Inc. (which sold out in a week).
Hidden beneath edgy layers of reverb and cowbell is a soft pop heart which the band openly admits is concerned with simply “girls and time travel”. It’s in that playful admission that the aim of Male Bonding is made clear: to have fun. Eschewing the po-faced pretentions that often characterise underground music, Male Bonding are out to enjoy themselves, showing love for Weezer and The Wipers in equal measure. Recorded with Rory Bratwell, the release of “Year’s Not Long” marks the fourth split single release for the band and precedes a forthcoming Flipper tribute 12” on Domino.
In summer 2009, the band signed with legendary US label, Sub Pop.
