White Flowers have shared two tracks, Underwater and a cover of ‘Til I Die by Beach Boys, which were both previously only available on a limited 7” as part of the Dinked edition of their debut album, Day By Day. Stream/download the two songs here
Talking about the tracks the band said:
“We are always looking to incorporate and explore ambient elements more in our music. We don’t feel bound to any particular style or genre, we just write music that comes naturally to us in the moment. Underwater is a song that unfolded very naturally, written in a stream-of-consciousness type way, a very meditative process.
We’ve always been inspired by the melodies and chord progressions that The Beach Boys use, but only discovered this song quite recently. We both feel like ’Til I Die’ is one of Brian Wilson’s most haunting and beautiful songs. When picking apart the composition and lyrics to work out how we were going to cover the song, we realised how fragile it is, how each individual part is so vital in making the song work as a whole.”
Having completed a short run of sold-out socially-distanced shows around the album release and more recently performed stunning sets at this year’s Manchester Psych Fest and Wide Awake Festival, the band head back out on the road in the autumn for a run of headline shows.
