Today we welcome Empty Country to the family and with it mark the return of prodigal son, Joseph D’Agostino, who long-term Tough Love devotees will remember for his work as part of Cymbals Eat Guitars. Empty Country first emerged in early 2020, releasing their self-titled debut in March of that year via Get Better. It’s with Get Better that we now partner for the release of ‘Pearl’, the first new material since the release of that debut LP. Watch the accompanying music video, edited and shot by Zoë Browne, available below or at Stereogum.
Concerning the track, Joseph writes:
“Hope everybody enjoys this new song. It was a pleasure to work with my wonderful bandmates and some of the world’s very finest engineers (John Agnello/Greg Calbi) to make it a reality. Without going into too much detail, I’ll say that this song is a direct sequel to ‘Marian’, the opener from our 2020 debut. I also wrote and recorded an audio short story as a companion piece to this new material. It fleshes out some of the characters populating the little universe we’re building. You can read/listen to it at emptycountry.com. Looking forward to sharing more music with you this year.”
‘Pearl’ can be streamed/downloaded here. Stay close for more Empty Country news in the coming weeks and months.
