White Flowers have today announced details of the digital release of a three-track remix EP featuring re-workings of tracks from their much-acclaimed debut album, Day By Day, released in May of last year.
Released today is the Jez Williams (Doves) remix of ‘Portra’, accompanied by a video made by the band. Watch that below. The EP also features a take on the album title track by legendary 4AD duo, Insides, and a re-working of ‘Help Me Help Myself’ by label-mates Peel Dream Magazine. The full EP will be released on 4th February. Pre-order via Bandcamp/Apple/Spotify etc here.
Talking about his remix, Jez Williams said:
“I produced the band’s debut album and when I was asked to remix one of the album tracks I immediately picked my personal fav, Portra. I wanted to completely re-interpret the song and to capture the Balearic mood and the beauty of the song. To help me do this I imagined I was there at Cafe del Mar Ibiza in 86 watching the sun rise….well, that was the film inside my head for this reinterpretation”
The band added:
“We’re excited to share a haunting remix of Portra courtesy of Jez Williams. Expanding on the more electronic elements and stretching out beyond six minutes, Jez’s added touch of Doves magic brings a hypnotic beauty to the track. We love it.”
